Talk to a system the way it works.
Headmates is a private home for your system: keep track of who's fronting, talk among yourselves, and stay close to friends' systems.
Message a friend's whole system, or one specific member. A message for one member waits in their own inbox, and they can keep it locked until they're the one up front.
Everything a system keeps track of
Built with plural systems in mind, and set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed to keep letters easy to tell apart.
Who's fronting
Switch, add co-fronters, add notes and tags, and look back over your front history.
Members and custom fronts
Names, pronouns, roles, colours, pictures, groups and your own custom fields.
Talk among yourselves
System chat, member-to-member mail, a shared journal and polls.
Message a friend's system your way
Write to their whole system, or to one specific member.
Inbox locks
A member can keep their messages hidden until they're fronting, or behind a PIN.
Friends, on your terms
Every member is private until you share them, and front sharing is your choice.
Bring your data
Import from PluralKit or Simply Plural, and make encrypted backups.
Six looks, night or day
Choose how the app pictures fronting, and light or dark colours.
See your system the way you think of it
Every system pictures fronting differently. Pick the look that fits yours: it changes the Front screen, the icons, the wording and the colours. Try them here; this page changes too.
Your system stays yours
There's nothing to sign up for and nobody to trust with your data, including us. Read the full privacy policy.
- No accounts. You never give us a name, email address or password.
- Everything lives on your phone, in an encrypted database.
- What you share with friends is encrypted on your phone and can only be read on theirs. The relay that carries it can't read it.
- Each member chooses which members of each friend's system can see them.
- The app has no adverts, no analytics and no selling of data.
Good to know
Is it really private?
Yes. There are no accounts, your data stays on your phone in an encrypted database, and anything shared with friends is end-to-end encrypted. The relay that passes messages between phones only ever sees scrambled data and random mailbox numbers.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Because nothing is stored on a server, your data is only on your phone. Make an encrypted backup from the app and keep it somewhere safe; you can restore it on a new phone with your passphrase.
How do friends work?
You add a friend by scanning a code or opening an invite link. Then each of your members chooses which of their members can see them, and you choose whether they can see who's fronting. Messages can go to their whole system or to one specific member.
Can I bring my data from PluralKit or Simply Plural?
Yes. Import an export file from either, and your members, groups, fields and front history come across.
When can I get it?
Headmates is coming to Android. We'll share more here when it's ready.
